About Dan

Dan Hamilton is our new Representative for House District 20. He was sworn in on December 2, 2008.

Dan Hamilton is the Operating Partner of Keller Williams Realty Greenville, one of the Upstate’s largest and fastest growing general real estate brokerage companies, employing over 150 agents and staff.

As someone who has signs the front of the paycheck every two weeks, Dan knows what it takes to be successful in a small business environment. He knows Columbia needs more leaders with real world business experience and he will take a common sense, business approach to the State House. Prior to starting his real estate business, Dan worked as a Congressional Aide to (then-Congressman) Jim DeMint.

Dan has lived in Taylors for over 25 years and takes pride in making his community a better place. Dan and his wife, Kelly, have been married for 9 years and have three children.

In addition to his business success, Dan has taken the time to give back to his community in many different ways. Dan’s past and current community involvement includes:

  • Board Member, Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency
  • Director & Chairman, Greenville Housing Fund
  • Director & Secretary/Treasurer, Greater Greenville Association of REALTORS
  • Director, South Carolina Association of REALTORS
  • Director & Vice Chairman, Greenville County Redevelopment Authority
  • Co-Chairman, Greenville Workforce Housing Trust Fund Task Force
  • Advisory Committee, Blue Ridge Council of Boy Scouts of America

Partly because of his commitments to family and community, Dan was named as one of the Greenville Magazine’s “Best and Brightest: 35 and Under” in 2007.

Since being elected, Dan has quickly gained a reputation as leader and advocate for more open and accountable government.  His peers elected him Vice-Chairman of the 23-member Freshman Caucus and he was appointed to the Judiciary Committee where he serves on the General Laws Subcomittee.
